SkyCity Casino Rejoices as Covid-19 Restrictions Get lifted

A local casino operator in New Zealand, SkyCity Entertainment Group, has been cheering on the country’s removal of all Covid-19 restrictions, particularly on public gatherings. On Monday, the 5th of June 2020, the NZ government made a public announcement that the country was officially moving to Level 1, effective midnight of the same day. This was after the health officials reported that the last patient known to be still infected with the virus has recovered. The country hasn’t published any new cases in about 17 days.

The shift for the country to move to Level 1 means that almost all restrictions related to the pandemic will be eliminated. This makes way for what Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister, referred to as ‘public events with no limitations’. It includes seeing thousands of supporters packed in stadiums supporting their desired sport.

The Prime Minister also reported that both the hospitality and retail industries are back to work without any limitations too. SkyCity Casino has been in operation, but under the pandemic restrictions since the 14th of May announced to the public that all its casinos in New Zealand would be back to operating on regular hours. This was with the exception of the Wharf casino in Queenstown.

Graeme Stephens, the CEO of SkyCity Entertainment, couldn’t hold his excitement. He grabbed the opportunity to flex the company’s muscles as he expressed how much they are looking forward to having the public enjoy their plenty and diverse facets of their properties. With that being said, the Prime Minister still warned the country that there might be seeing new infections with no doubt down the road, so people are still expected to take all the necessary precautions. Following this statement, Stephens reported that they will always be committed to maintaining strong safety and health standards.
