Rules of European Blackjack

Here are some of the rules that must apply when playing European Blackjack:

Hole Card

In European blackjack, there is no hole card. Initially, the dealer will only receive one card and the other, only after the hand of the player has been complete. Thus, the dealer in the game doesn’t have to look at the hole card if the other card is an Ace.

Decks of Cards

In this version of blackjack, two decks are used.  As a result, the house edge will be significantly low compared to other variations of the game such as American blackjack.

Blackjack Hand

When it comes to European Blackjack, the following blackjack hand rules must apply:

  • The dealer’s blackjack can only beat the players’ hand with the value of 21.
  • When both the player and the dealer have blackjack, it’s called a push.
  • The dealer doesn’t peek for blackjack as stated earlier.
  • The payout for the game is 3:2.

Splitting

Here, players in New Zealand are permitted to create two hands from the ones they were dealt. In this blackjack variation, online casinos must only split once.  More so, online casino players must only split their hands if the cards have a value of 10, are two queen or two kings.

Doubling Down

This permits New Zealanders to double their first bet if they assume that they might have a better hand compared to the dealer’s hand. However, in this game, Kiwis are only permitted to make use of this rule if their hand has a value of 11, 10 or 9.
